Word Press has an easy to follow start up process and there are many tutorials available online to help you set up your website in almost any theme available. If your site will be informational only with no advertising, you can create your site for free and Word Press will even host it for you free of charge. If you wish to have advertising on your site you need to choose a hosting site for a small monthly fee.

Before you run out and create your site there are a few things to think about first. Planning your site will make it much easier and cheaper to get in online. Some items you will need to add right away.
Things you will need to decide before you start to create your site
Decide on a Domain Name
Your Domain Name will be the Web Address for your site. Make it something easy to remember and related to your business name. Remember that your favorite Domain Name many not be available. Make a list of your top 4 or 5 choices before you start building your page. Once you select your domain name you will need to reserve it. This will cost a small fee, about $20, and reserve it for 1 year and you will need to renew it each year.
Choose a Hosting site
There are many Hosting site available, you need to have an account open with one of these sites and have the information ready when you start to create your page. Host Gator and Go Daddy are 2 of the most popular and they have many pricing options and you can pay monthly or yearly.
Choose your Digital Media
Digital Media is the term used for any pictures, documents or videos you want on your site. You will always be able to add more or change them later but having the first ones ready before you start building your site will allow you to start your site sooner.
Create an Word Press account
- Whether you use Word Press or another site you will need to create an account. There are many themes to choose from, a theme is how your website will look when complete. Each theme will have its own look, take the time to look ate these themes and choose the one you like best.
Start out with the basics you need for your website to be useful to visitors when they find your site. You can update your site as often as you want, giving you time to collect more media and research new plug-ins and functionality for your site.
Keeping your business website current
Your website will need to be maintained and updated on a regular bases to keep it current and seen by search engines like Google and Bing. This will take time to develop and research new content and post ads about sales or coupons. Your time is valuable, you may be able to do it yourself at first but if this is time you can afford to invest, you need to hire someone to do it for you.
You may assign this to someone already in your company or you can hire a freelance website manager to do regular posts and maintenance on your site. Most Merchant Service Providers (MSP) offer this service. You may be able to add it to your existing service package for a small additional fee.
